How It Works
The QN-08 works on the principle of selective photothermolysis, first described by Anderson and Parrish in 1983. A Q-switched cavity releases laser light in extremely short nanosecond pulses at very high peak power. Because the pulse is shorter than the time heat needs to spread into surrounding tissue, the energy is confined to the target pigment while nearby skin stays comparatively protected.
When the pulse is absorbed by ink or melanin, it creates a rapid photomechanical effect that shatters the pigment into tiny fragments. Some fragments are expelled from the skin surface and the rest are small enough to be engulfed by phagocytes and cleared over time through the lymphatic system.
