How It Works
VF-01 uses a refrigeration unit to generate a continuous flow of cold, dried air that is directed at the skin before, during and after a vascular treatment pulse. The cooling temperature is adjustable, reaching well below zero at its lowest setting, which lets the operator match the level of protection to the patient's skin type and the energy being used.
The rationale comes from selective photothermolysis, the principle described by Anderson and Parrish in 1983. Vascular treatments aim to heat oxyhemoglobin inside the vessel, which absorbs strongly in the visible range, while sparing the surrounding tissue.
